My 33rd week? I am so excited! Woof! Woof!
|
1. Welcome!
Assignment sheets are published each week on your website: mrdfourth90.com. You will find your spelling list there also, as well as a copy of the problem of the week.
2. Reading:
Each student is expected to do at least 15 minutes of reading a night. Book Reports are due the first of each new month. Students have free choice this month. Due date is Tuesday, June 1st. Books may be reported in any of the ten ways to do a book report.
3. Open Court:
Our story this week is The Golden Spike. Each week we will do the first two pages of our current story from the Comprehension and Language Arts Skills book. This week please do pages 226 and 227. Children should read the story before doing the workbook pages. This assignment is due each Thursday.
4. Spelling Story:
Spelling stories are really teaching vocabulary. They give children a chance to creatively use words they may not yet be familiar with. Each child should choose at least 12 words from the spelling list and create a story. Please be creative. Due each Friday. Children receive a new list on the first day of the week, but spelling words can be found at http://mrdfourth90.com/Spelling/spelling_year.htm. Parents can access this list anytime through the week, but it is changed to a new list, usually on Thursday nights.
5. Math Homework: We are working our way through practice testing and extra practice in the back of the book.
6. Science Project- Due Open House day, Thursday May 20th. Projects are graded half on artistry and creativity and half on the science being shown. Projects should involve display board as well as the project itself. The theme is magnets, motors, and electricity. Students are to restrict themselves to battery current only. Anything to do with the theme is allowed. Show your best effort for this last project of the year! Previous projects are available at: http://mrdfourth90.com/science_2009.html
7. Bubble gum Friday! The teacher promises not to ask what is that in your mouth. Bring lots to share! |
